Reverse 'P' guard brass hilted saber. Curved, single edge blade with broad fuller. Bone grip. CONDITION: Poor to fair. Blade is plain, unstopped fuller, good edge and point, bright metal mixed with dark grey spots overall. Knucklebow and counterguard appear original to the sword, but the hilt was damaged at some point and a crude backstrap with integral ferrule at front was bent over the rear to form a pommel, anchor the blade tang and secure the end of the knuckleguard. The channeled bone grip shows chipping at the pommel and lengthwise crack on the obverse that has been filled. There is a short crack on the upper obverse near the guard as well. As repaired, the grip is stable. The repair seems to have some age. The brass may have been fashioned from original elements of the (damaged) hilt. SR
