Manufactured by Mauser for commercial sales. Major metal components retain rust blue finish, with smaller components being in-the-white and nitre blued. The top of the chamber is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/ MAUSER/ OBERNDORF A/N", with the serial number on the left breech flat. Left side of receiver bears a crown over "U" commercial proof that is also present on the top of the bolt handle. The bottom of the frame exhibits a German Imperial eagle stamp on the trigger guard, just behind the floorplate. Right side of frame bears factory stamps stipulating the Mauser's manufacturer information. Interior of left grip is marked in ink "S.F.C.H.C. HICKMAN/ 159th F.H. 6th A.C./ 115th S.T. 2nd. A./ U.S.A." with the right grip panel reading "MARS.LA.TOUR./ 11/13/1918 FRANCE". All numbers are matching, including the grips. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting areas of thinning and some areas of wear that show through to patina. Bore is bright, and retains good rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered impressions, as well as a a few minor areas of wear. A very nice example of a commercially manufactured Mauser C96 pistol produced during the Great War. MLW
