This early DLV dagger features a steel blade, nickel silver cross guard and pommel, and a blue leather wrapped grip. The scabbard is also constructed of nickel silver fittings and a blue leather wrapped scabbard body. The blade features the maker mark for the firm of "SMF". The blade remains in bright condition with a fine factory cross graining running the length of the blade. Light runner streaks and superficial marks can be seen throughout the blade. The original leather buffer pad is present. The nickel silver guard and pommel cap have developed a dark patina in the recesses over the original high quality silver plating. The center of the guard features a black enamel inlayed swastika emblem. The blue leather wrapped grip has light marks throughout. The blue leather wrapped scabbard body exhibits light marks throughout, as well as early nickel fittings which have developed a nice patina. The scabbards throat is marked with the earlier DLV emblem. One scabbard screw near the daggers hanger ring is missing. An originally attached leather hanger is still present.
