Scagel carving sets are extremely scarce, especially double marked examples. The knife measures 13-3/8" overall with a 9" blade. The right side near the top shows smoothed traces of Scagel's kris mark, as well as his "W SCAGEL / HANDMADE" stamp. The knife has stag two piece handle, retained by three brass pins. The fork shows much less use and has faceted edges. Measures about 11" overall and has matching stag grip scales retained by three brass pins. The right side is stamped with both Scagel's kris mark and his "W SCAGEL / HANDMADE" mark. This set is complete with a copy of a signed letter by Dr. James R. Lucie authenticating this set as a genuine example of Scagel's work. CONDITION: The knife shows heavy use and markings are faint, mostly smooth. Knife shows some heavy pits and the tip has been sharpened, as well as heavy grinding in one area in particular on the top of the blade and on both sides. Grip handles are smoothed from use. Fork is very good, showing sharp edges. Kris mark is a light stamp. DMG
