Nice WWII-Vietnam War medal, insignia, and ephemera grouping that is ID'D to a marine who served in WWII all the way through the Vietnam War. Donald J. Cooley entered the Marine Corps as a private on December 6, 1940 and retired as a Major on February 1, 1972. The lot consists of Cooley's medals, rank insignia, dog tags, and paperwork. There is one set of medals accompanied by a set of miniature medals. The Good Conduct Medal is engraved and reads "No. A-6451 / Donald J. Cooley / 1st Enlistment / 1939-1943". Four of Cooley's dog tags are present, two are post war and the other two are rare early WWII USMC dog tags with Cooley's fingerprint on the reverse. The paperwork consists of service documents including all of his official promotions and several of his honorable discharge certificates. This is a very nice group that tracks the career of a Marine from WWII-Vietnam. CONDITION: The paperwork has been very well taken care of. Some pieces exhibit typical creases and rips. Insignia is in very good condition. Overall good-excellent. JD
