Extensive two war medal grouping ID'D to William B Wright. These medals might have belonged to William B. Wright Jr. based off of the relation of this lot of insignia to his service. They could also be a father son grouping. Wright is listed as being a Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel in official Army records. He was listed as the Commander of Barksdale Field in Shreveport, MS in 1943-44 and was noted for authorizing mercy flights for local civilians in need of medical care. Later on, he took over command at Selfridge Field in Michigan for a time. The lot consists of Wright's medals, rank insignia, and miscellaneous insignia from his service in WWI-WWII. There are 3 WWI victory medals, one has "France" and "Defensive Sector" service clasps. There are also several service medals from WWII. Some notable pieces are: A pair of Major insignia that are engraved on the reverse to Wright. They read " Maj. Wm. B. Wright / Air Corps / Reserve Officers / Kansas City, Mo. / April 1934" this is a very unique set, as rank insignia is seldom seen with personal engravings. There is also a unique Caterpillar Club pin that is engraved on the back and reads "Pres. by Irving / Wm B. Wright / 6-7-36". There are several pairs of wings in this lot, starting with a pair of 1919 observer wings marked "Sterling From Original Die" pilot wings, and command pilot wings. There is also a Legion of Merit engraved to Wright. A decent amount of insignia is engraved to Wright, he must have like to personalize his awards. More research is needed to decipher the rest of this man's military career. CONDITION: Some insignia displays wear while others remain almost untouched. Overall Good-Excellent. JD
