A) Field recovered World War I German trench shield measuring 17-5/8" X 23-5/8". Made of heavy steel plate curved outwards at the sides, with a horizontal slot, offset, with a sliding cover. Functioning observation slit cover which moves easily by the touch. The reverse steel prop leg intact and moving freely. CONDITION: Exhibits areas of heavy pitting which is typical of these ground recovered shields. Mixed with areas of original green paint. Most of the pitting being on the reverse. B) World War I German trench armor breastplate. Missing its lower plates, but retaining most of its original green paint. CONDITION: Very good. Areas of paint loss and expected scuffs. DG
