Kanmuri-Otoshi-zukuri blade form with a rather lazy notare hamon. Well cut horimono on right of double incised lines and characters. Silver foil horizontally scratched habaki. Mekugiana of a slightly elongated form and more appropriate to a spear, possibly a remount. Nakago is signed and dated for Eisho period, making this quite old. Mounts comprise a brown painted saya with simple kojiri that shows remanants of gilding, kurigata decorated with florals and accented with gilding, and a kozuka depicting three playing shishi dogs. Tsuba relieved for kozuka, fuchi decorated with florals, menuki depicting more shishi dogs, and kashira decorated en suite with fuchi. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is in good polish withsome very minor scattered openings and shitetsu. Shirasaya are very good, samurai mounts are very good with some chipping to paint and age related rubbing. Kurigata shows evidence of having been reattached at once point to saya. A very good yoroi doshi with good mounts. EW
