Rather attractive Tombo (dragonfly) motif Maedate that would have mounted to the front of a Kabuto helmet. Wings are decorated with abalone on brass and copper wings with abalone present on undersides. Underside of thorax decorated with crushed abalone. Traces of gilding visible on head. Split tail. CONDITION: Very good. Some rubbing and age related staining throughout. One wing (when holding head up, upper left wing) has been repaired at one point at attachment joint. Very attractive. EW
