This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/18/2021
Circa 1900. 5 - 1/2" round barrel with fixed blade front sight, 50 - 1000 adjustable rear sight with V-notch. Marked over breech "WAFFENFABRIK" / "MAUSER" / "OBERNDORF A/N", with offset serial number (26248), and "(Crown) / U" proof on left side of chamber. Oberndorf proof on right side of chamber (visually similar to the later Ulm proof). Appropriate fire blued small parts. Matching numbers observed on bolt, bolt locking block, firing pin, hammer, frame, subframe, takedown latch, sear, sear arm, locking block, and magazine floorplate. Both grip scales with complete serial number internally. Strawed trigger. Non-rotatable lanyard loop. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining the vast majority of the rust blue finish with some minor wear at the highest edges and on underside of barrel; one noticeable area of loss on underside of trigger guard. Appropriate distension around proofs from application. Fire blue also excellent, with somewhat more loss than rust blue. Straw on trigger very good with a minimum of loss on face. Mechanically fine, bore is good with visible rifling and some areas of pitting. This is a top tier example of a relatively rare variation of the C96. EMW
