Named US Navy Model 1852 officer's sword with scabbard. The sword is named on the blade to "R.S. Sease". The blade features acid etched decorations that include various scrollwork and naval motifs. The sword is marked "WM H. HORSTMANN COMPANY / PHILADELPHIA" on the ricasso. The guard features foliate scenes of oak leaves with the letters "U.S.N." followed by a simulated ray skin grip that is wrapped with brass wire. After the grip is a brass pommel that features an eagle surrounded by 13 stars. There is a nice bullion portepee wrapped around the guard. The sword is complete with its leather scabbard with brass mounts, carry rings, and drag that is topped with a scaled serpent. CONDITION: The blade remains bright as does the brass guard. The guard exhibits slight blemishes and there is tarnishing on the pommel. The scabbard exhibits leather flaking and there are blemishes on the brass components, especially the drag. There are also a few dents in the drag. Overall very good. JLD
