Winchester Model 1885 made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in February of 1891. 30" No. 3 weight octagon barrel, in caliber .38-55, fitted with a blued Rocky Mountain front sight with an adjustable Buckhorn rear barrel sight. Early flat spring straight grip single trigger action with thickside hammer. Winchester standard grade American walnut buttstock fitted with its original sporting rifle buttplate. Matching condition Winchester forearm with ebony inlay. Cody Firearms Research confirms this rifle's described condition and caliber. Serial number applied in February 4, 1891 and shipped October 5th, 1891. CONDITION: The barrel retains an overall gray appearance and honest use marks throughout. The action with silvery case coloring, sharp edges, no alterations with a crisp appearance. The lever and lower tang show noticeable signs of rust staining. Winchester buttstock and forend are in good used condition showing signs of field use, no abuse and noticeable carry wear on bottom of forend. Excellent mechanics with rough shootable bore.
