Double action revolver made for civilian use by Smith and Wesson from 1942 to 1945. This particular gun does not have usual U.S. Property Stamp and G.H.D. inspector marks on topstrap indicating issuance to a post office or defense plant. 4" round parkerized finished round barrel marked "SMITH & WESSON" with blade front sight and Smith & Wesson address on top. Parkerized finish on frame with matching parkerized 6 shot .38 caliber cylinder. Case hardened trigger and hammer. Marked on butt with "V" prefix serial number 563992 with factory attached lanyard ring. 2 piece plain walnut grips. CONDITION: 90% fading parkerized finish with edges turning a silvery patina. Visible case on trigger and hammer. Nice grips with light handling marks. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
