High-quality American made Smith & Wesson Model 76 machine gun with “U” prefix serial number. The standard civilian and law enforcement production guns were serialized with a "U" prefix, U101 through U6100. There was a small Navy contract produced and delivered during the Vietnam war, and all documented specimens have a "T" serial number prefix. Production started in 1967 and ran through 1974. These guns exhibit the highest standards of fit and finish as to be expected from this maker. This is a select fire machine gun with an ambidextrous safety/selector, hard composite pistol grip with swing-out rubber covered shoulder loop. The firing characteristics are ergonomic, and this gun is both controllable and accurate. One 36-round magazine is included with this gun. Easily disassembled for cleaning, with good durability, and traditionally relatively inexpensive, it makes for a great entry level machine gun, and also has appeal to the more advanced machine gun enthusiast. Electronic NFA registry indicates, “SMITH AND WESSON”. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near extremely fine original matte blue finish with a little brown patina at the rivets, and some light handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face also near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. A great, simple, fun gun to shoot at the range! THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-076.
