Bob Loveless is known as one of the greatest modern knifemakers to exist, and crafted high end knives for the consumer market as well as US government organizations such as the CIA and US Army Special Forces. This knife stands out from all other Bob Loveless creations due to its significance and engraving. The knife features a mirror polished ATS-34 steel blade that is marked "R.W. LOVELESS / maker / Riverside, Calif." on the cheek. It is also marked "R.W.L." on the ricasso. Tapered tang construction with green canvas micarta scales. The guard is crafted of 416 stainless steel and features exquisite engraving by Firmo Fracassi on each side. The obverse side of the guard features a spread winged screaming eagle and the reverse features a portrait of the craftsman himself, Bob Loveless. The micarta grip scales are bordered by red spacers on each side and are secured by two large pins on each side, all of which feature elegant scroll engraving. The obverse scale features a oval escutcheon that is engraved "THE FIRST KNIFE OF -2001-". The handle also features an integral lanyard loop. The knife is complete with its original brown leather scabbard that features an integral belt loop. The scabbard is stamped with Loveless' maker mark above the "PULL THE DOT" snap. Lastly, the scabbard is signed by Loveless on the obverse side. The signature is legible but exhibits fading. Scabbard exhibits scattered wear throughout but remains supple. Knife exhibits light handling throughout with scattered light blemishes. Housed in a plush zipper case. CONDITION: Very good. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Frank Brownell.
