Reginald F. Sedgley opened this now famous company in Philadelphia around 1916. He is best remembered for his classic Springfield Model 1903 custom rifles. While he is known for other gun projects, this is the first custom Colt SAA this writer has ever encountered. The original Colt SAA frame was produced in 1906. The new barrel is stamped "R.F. SEDGLEY INC. PHILADELPHIA" and sports a Micro rear sight and a ramped front sight. Left side of barrel is stamped "Cal .22 WCF Hornet". The Colt action still has two line patent legend. Matching serial number on frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Custom beveled cylinder base pin. The traverse pin was removed and filled, right side of frame is cut away so you simply pull the knurled pin and the entire piece is removed from gun for loading. The back strap is finely hand checkered and has a shoulder stock cut. The grips are custom walnut. The gun was then professionally blued with bright blue screws and hammer top. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains at least 95% blue with a cylinder drag line, some light muzzle wear and a few handling marks. The action indexes and locks up smoothly. The bore is bright. The degree of custom machining is outstanding. From the Robert C. Renneberg Collection
