It is estimated Colt produced just 122 first generation flat top Single Action Army revolvers in .38 Colt. This example is circa 1893. Gun has full professionally reapplied high polish blue finish with nitre blue screws. Barrel is marked with 1-line Hartford address and fitted with a pinned target front sight. Flat top target frame with drift adjustable u-notch rear sight. Frame is fitted with a transverse pin, as was introduced on these target guns around 1892. Left side of the frame bears 2-line patent dates and encircled rampant Colt trademark. Grips are checkered hard rubber with eagles and rampant Colts. Grips are unnumbered. CONDITION: Excellent as beautifully restored. Nearly all of the brilliant reapplied blue is retained with scattered handling marks and a turn line. Grips have excellent definition with some superficial marks. Fine bright bore with crisp rifling. Fine mechanics. A very handsome Colt.
