Griffin and Howe opened for business in 1923 and quickly became one of most recognized custom sporting rifle builders in American history specializing in turning mostly Model 1903s and Mausers into some of the finest of their type ever made. This example sports a G&H stamped barrel with number "1068" and caliber stamp on left side of barrel. The 1903 receiver has the Springfield bridge markings textured over. The bolt and inside are worm jeweled. A Lyman 48 receiver sight has been mounted. It sports a banded ramp front sight with no cut for a rear barrel sight. The left side of frame has the G&H scope base with hidden screws. The G&H walnut stock features a hand checkered stock pistol grip, straight comb, roll over cheek piece, a more modern black rubber pad, grip cap, and horn forend tip. A small section of floor plate is checkered. There is an initialed silver plated plaque at base with SMO. Gun also sports a sling. CONDITION: Excellent. The floor plate is starting to blend but balance of metal retains majority of blue with minor handling. The rich stock is excellent with sharp checkering and minor handling. Mechanically sound. Bore is bright with a super smooth action.
