Included factory research indicates this rifle shipped June 12, 1902 to Simmons Hardware. Rifle sports a polish blued tapered octagon barrel with modified Rocky Mountain blade front sight and later Savage adjustable rear sight. An additional folding aperture sight is mounted at the rear of the receiver. Blued frame engraved in the factory "B" pattern featuring well executed running deer vignettes surrounded by sprays of delicate floral scroll. Engine turned bolt and early round style round counter. Schnabel tipped splinter forend and straight grip stock with crescent butt plate. Checkering appears recut. Matching numbers observed on the forend, stock, and buttplate. Factory research lists only the octagon barrel although the engraving does appear to be factory. CONDITION: Fine. barrel retains the vast majority of its bright blue with wear along the high edges and cleaned spotting. Frame likewise shows some high edge wear and thinning, especially on the underside. Stocks have been lightly sanded and reoiled. Crisp checkering. Defined, heavily frosted bore. Fine mechanics.
