Crafted by the Remington Custom Shop for the company's 2016 bicentennial, this set features three handsomely appointed and Jesse Kaufman engraved classic firearms representing Remington's current lineup: the Model 700 bolt action rifle, Model 870 slide action shotgun, and R1 1911 semi-automatic pistol. Only 4 such sets were built, of which this set is number 3, as is numbered on each gun. Gun (A) is built with a blued, tapered round barrel with "REMINGTON CUSTOM SHOP ILION, NY" address and no factory iron sight provisions. A gold inlaid band and scroll is present at the muzzle, with an additional gold embellished engraved scroll at the breech. Receiver features nearly full coverage engraving with gold borders and embellishments, including gold inlaid "Remington 700" on the left side in a banner. Floorplate also embellished in the same way with a large commemorative banner inlaid in gold reading "1816 BICENTENNIAL 2016" over a facsimile of Eliphalet Remington's signature. Stock is highly figured American walnut with hand cut fleur-de-lis pattern checkering, Monte Carlo cheek piece, and leather wrapped butt pad. Gun (B) is fitted with ventilated rib barrel with double bead sights and sprays of engraving at the breech. Receiver displays broad, punch dot shaded foliate scroll engraving with gold linework. Right side has gold inlaid banners reading "1816 BICENTENNIAL 2016" and "Remington 870". Stocks are also of highly figured walnut with hand cut fleur-de-lis pattern checkering and a leather wrapped recoil pad. Gun (C) features similar gold embellished foliate scroll engraving with gold inlaid banners reading "1816 BICENTENNIAL 2016" and "Remington R1". Nitre blued gold bead front sight and Novak square notch rear. Slide release and safety are nitre blued to match. Lightweight hammer and 3-hole trigger. Checkered grip straps with flat housing. Grips are walnut hand checkered in a fleur-de-lis pattern. All 3 guns are handsomely cased together in a French fitted, leather wrapped oak case with turn screws, oil bottle, and commemorative cover. CONDITION: Excellent, as new with faint handling. Guns have discreet Simson import markings. Outer case shows some mild storage and handling wear. A fabulous, extremely rare set.
