Of all the attractive Maxim machine guns which one might encounter, few would disagree that the Swiss Maxim is one of the very best made and most attractive all. The quality of machine work, fit, and finish is unsurpassed. This fantastic Swiss MG-11 Maxim Machine gun includes an original Swiss tripod, gunner’s kit, and leather barrel carrier. This gun will transfer as C&R eligible MG08 Maxim registered serial number 47174d. Aside from the sideplate, the rest of this gun has visible matching numbers 10091, including the barrel and lock, with the crosshead “42”. Gunner’s kit contains three extractors, 1 firing pin, 1lock mainspring, and numerous other small parts in a leather bag, in addition to the tools cleaning rod, and lubricant bottle. Electronic NFA registry indicates “MAXIM” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original lustrous blue finish on metal surfaces with some slight loss of finish in places. The fusee cover retains over 95% of its original black enamel painted finish with clear “WAFFENFABRIK BERN” marking. Checkered wood handles are near excellent. Bore is extremely fine with strong rifling, getting dark in the grooves. Tripod exhibits over 95% original green paint. Gunner’s kit retains nearly all of its original green paint, and the parts are in extremely fine to near excellent condition. Leather barrel carrier is extremely fine. Mechanics of gun and tripod are crisp and smooth. This is a full-auto only machine gun. A gun which presents exceptionally well and will draw the eye on any observer even if placed within an advanced collection with other fine guns.
