Serial #: 71334 on all parts. .41 caliber. Barrel length: 6". Double action gun. Period New York style engraving, classic scroll and leaf pattern, popular in that period among New York engravers. Very profusely engraved, very high and tight engraving covering three quarters of the barrel. The entire frame, cylinder, back strap, trigger guard and ejector housing. Original deluxe finish. Barrel, frame, trigger guard and under strap retaining 95% of original nickel finish. Cylinder, back strap and ejector housing, retaining a strong 85% of original gold wash. Most of the gold wash finish missing, is on the back strap. Trigger and top of hammer along with the screws retain a strong 75% of the original bright blue finish. Gun is in good working condition. Accompanying the Colt, is a letter from the Colt factory to fabled dealer, Martin Retting, dated September 3rd, 1980, stating that the gun is in the factory records and was shipped to Hartley & Graham, New York, New York, October 18th, 1889. In the soft finish, with rubber grips. Frame was not case hardened, so it could be engraved. It is obvious from the deluxe engraving and the deluxe nickel and gold type of finish, that this gun was enhanced by Harley & Graham.
