19th century. The blade is lightly etched with floral and fruit patterns. Central panel on the one side depicts a stand of arms, including Romanesque style of half armor. Haft is etched with a spiral vine design. The piece has a six-sided wooden shaft still retaining 50% of the original leather. The entire length of the shaft is embedded with studs, for better grip. An old tassel at the base of the steel portion still remains. The leather has worm holes. Blade has numerous nicks to both edges and the etching is worn. Light patches of heavy pitting, tip is slightly bent, and there is a good bit of red rust on one side which can be easily cleaned.
