School: Western European. Circa 1730 to 1760. Overall length: 43”. Caliber: .68. Barrel length: 29 – ½” (original). Octagonal barrel. Missing lock mechanism. Wood patchbox. Walnut stock. Relief carving and one original brass inlay. This Jaeger rifle is exactly the type carried by the Hessian riflemen during the American Revolution with its relief carvings and early brass hardware. This rifle needs another lock to replace the missing on or perhaps a new one could be fabricated.
