Very desirable 16" French fashion doll, with Barrois-like qualities, incised on back of the head only "4", with cornflower blue glass eyes, pierced in ears, closed mouth with slight smiling expression, and head swiveling on a separate bisque shoulder plate. Shoulder plate is attached to an all articulated, fully jointed wooden body with joints at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. This doll also has a green stamp on the leather collar attaching shoulder to body, reading "Poupee Passage de L'Opera Paris". The elaborate costume is a 1870's style two piece walking dress made of brown silk; the jacket has glass bead and lace trim, as well as black satin florets. The skirt is light blue brocade with scalloped shell design and black lace trim at the hem. Boots are black leather with heels. Wig is brown mohair, although not as old as the doll. The silk and velvet hat is antique. Overall a very nice doll.

Item Dimensions: 16" T.
