C. 1780s-1800. A rare English short sword cane featuring a highly decorated 14-inch blade. One side of the blade is engraved with elaborate oak leaves, while the opposite side bears a crest depicting a cockerel with a shield and anchor. The cane is fitted with an ebony shaft and handle, accented by three silver collars, and terminates in a metal ferrule. Length: 34 inches.
