This large and original gorget has a tag on it stating "Found a short distance west of Crown Point and Fort Frederic. Restored 8/03 by T.F. Monnich. The piece measures about 5-3/4" x 5-3/4". The thin gilt brass is engraved in the center with a detailed British crest with "GR" and a banner below the crest which reads "DIEN/MON/DROIT". On both tips, there are repousse floral designs. When found, the gorget was broken into several pieces and has since been restored using a putty applied to the back. CONDITION: Very stable and good as restored with some cracks and small chips absent. A very rare and early gorget. PROVENANCE: Ex. Jim Dresslar
