1890's era, 18 - 1/2", closed mouth German, possibly by Kestner, simply incised on back on head "9" with high forehead, closed mouth with well-defined lips, brown glass sleep eyes, upper and lower painted lashes, with thick multi-stroke eyebrows. It is mounted to the original early German, wooden composition body with straight wrists, and slim elongated characteristics. There is a separate ball joint joint at the elbows but balls at the knees and lower arms are attached to the lower pieces. She has been re-costumed in a dotted Swiss-type pink filmy dress with inserted silk ribbons, trimmed in lace and wearing a well made replacement blond mohair curly wig over cardboard pate. The shoes are newer white leather, however, the elaborate pale gold silk and pink velvet trimmed hat appears to be antique. Body has original finish.
