This is a contract U.S. Pistol manufactured by Henry Deringer in Philadelphia. Manufactured for the United States Navy, featured is an usual box locked system percussion. Lock is stamped Deringer, Philadelphia and stamped U.S.N. 1847. Has a 6" barrel, bore is .60. Extremely hard to find Martial pistol with the Navy issue. You will find this exact type gun found on page 115 "U.S. Single Shots Pistols," by "Hartzler & Whisker. Features a single brass barrel band, swivel rod, walnut stocks, iron furniture with brass trigger guard and butt disc, brass is a deep dark mustard yellow, barrel and lock are gun metal in the white with salt and pepper appearance. The hammer is dark chocolate brown, barrel legend is not readable, walnut stocks are very good, original finish with a chip at front right lock plate. Small crack above and a light hairline crack at the base on right of trigger guard through the right side. Front sight bead added. All original untouched Navy Pistol with the exception of sight.
