WAR DEPARTMENT STATEMENTS, 1808 UNIFORM REGULATIONS, GEN. WAYNE BUYS BOOTS.

Lot consists of five items. (A) payment receipt for Shalloon fabric and a pair of boots by “The Honble. Brigadier General Wayne (B) 1806 and 1815 statements from the US Secretary of War. Printed cover letter, 2 p. 7-1/2 x 12 in. dated 1810 that contained two statements from the Secretary of War. One, designated “A” in the cover letter, “A General Account” dated January 1810 lists returns of militia made by the states required in 1807, but with most states derelict in submitting returns at all or in their timing. Statement “B” refer to in cover letter is missing. With a Feb. 21, 1815 “Letter from the Secretary of War transmitting a statement of the expenditures of the money appropriated for the contingent expenses of the military establishment for the year 1814.” Detailed accounts of money paid out, to what officers and reasons- everything from transportation of baggage to the purchase of stationery. Disbound, statements numbers 2 to 22 present, fold out sheets 12 x 14 - 1/2 in. CONDITION: Good. Some edge losses. Tear along fold line of Number 19, but no loss of text. (C) Printed May 21, 1808 order by Henry Dearborn specifying uniforms for the new U.S. artillery, dragoon, infantry, and rifle regiments organized in 1808 in the wake of rising tensions with Britain. CONDITION: Excellent. 6 - 1/4 X 7 - 3/4 in. on blue mat in modern frame 8 - 3/4 x 10 - 3/4 in. (D) Partial tax collector account page for taxes on wine, rum, sugar, etc. Not filled in, (E) Partial account statement for beef, “rations of all species,” etc., at Carlisle and Augusta, rendered in Pennsylvania currency and its equivalent.
