Early pen and ink rendering of W.F. Cody in a jaunty pose with a M1873 Winchester rifle. Older professional framework and matted under glass.

Condition: Very fine with some scattered very light foxing spots.

Provenance: Oral history from consignor states that this drawing hung in the office of Judge William Altstadt. His nickname was "Little Bismark" and was justice of the peace in Douglas, County, Nebraska in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He was a close friend of Bill Cody, and helped him with many legal issues that needed resolved to form the Wild West shows that Cody would later become famous for. McNulty executed the drawing in 1903 when he was working for multiple newspapers in Omaha. W.C. McNulty's father was James McNulty, a close friend of Bill Cody.
