With only 550 manufactured, the model 1811 transition is a US martial pistol collector's prize. The round barrel is stamped at breech with P over US and S.N.Y (State of New York). CONDITION: Barrel is smooth, aged patina with minor pitting. Double strap barrel band with minor pitting. Lock marked at tail S. North Berlin, Conn and eagle over U States. Pistol does not appear to reconverted, but hammer is an old replacement. Brass regulation furniture in good condition, with fine old unpolished patina. Walnut stock with split through butt has been repaired. Left side of stock stamped HHP for military inspector. Flayderman says barrel should be 8 - 5/8", barrel of present 1811 is 8 - 1/4" so barrel may have been slightly reduced; however, patination at end of muzzle matches the rest of the barrel. Ramrod is a replacement. One of the rarest US martial pistols. Bore is fair. Mainspring is strong, but pistol will not stay on full cock. A rare find for the US martial collector. MZ
