(A) CASED AND ENGRAVED CHARLES DANDOY ADAMS PATENT DOUBLE ACTION PERCUSSION REVOLVER.
Charles Dandoy was registered in Liege from 1846 through 1867. About 1851, he began importing and then, under license, manufacturing the newly developed solid frame Model 1851 Adams patent .500 Dragoon revolver. Dandoy built this large holster revolver in early 1850s as evidenced by the legend atop the barrel which reads "MANUFed by C. DANDOY LEIGE Licensed by DEANE & ADAMS LONDON". Right side of frame is stamped "Adams Patent No 4053". Left side of frame is stamped "ADAMS PATENT 1851". The frame and trigger guard features light English style scroll engraving. Comes with two case color finished percussion cylinders, both numbered "4053". Standard features are the double action only spur less hammer, octagon barrel, blue finish, a dovetailed bead front sight, and one piece checkered walnut grips with engraved trap. Comes in a green lined, French fitted contrasting wood case that houses a brass two cavity Adams 1851 patent bullet mold, a powder flask, wood handle turn screw, metal wad cutter, wood cleaning rod, oil bottle and fitted space for extra cylinder. Inside lid in gold gilt is "12 RUE D'ENGHIEN LePAGE FRERES PARIS". LePage Frères operated a retail shop as a a Belgian-French collaboration in Paris in the mid-19th century. CONDITION: Fine. Both of the case color cylinders have faded to grey brown patina. The frame and barrel still retain at least 75-80% blue partially starting to dull. The grips are excellent and crisp. Mechanically sound. The bore is bright but lightly frosted.
