This musket is unmarked and features a round two-stage barrel with half moon brass sight towards muzzle and bayonet lug mounted on bottom. Flat lockplate with beveled edges, touchhole has been rebushed. Frizzen face shows losses to period sleeve. Typical brass Dutch mounts in the early style. A diamond inlay with punch-dot initials has been added behind the trigger guard. The walnut stock has relief carving around the barrel tang, lock and sideplate. Wooden ramrod with horn tip appears to be its period ramrod. Stock stamped with small "GDM" on underside of stock for George D. Moller collection. Right side of stock carved with initials "WI". CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark brown patina and shows scattered marks and pitting. Lock has a matching patina with scattered light pitting. Brass retains a mustard patina. Stock shows scattered age cracks and marks from use. A nice early Dutch musket.
