Manufactured 1868-72. Breech block is dated 1866 with eagle head but no arrows or US stamp. No serial numbers on left side. Lock is dated 1864 with "US" and eagle. All metal finished in the white except block, hammer, and sideplate. Rifle has no serial number which probably indicates a test model. Two piece trigger guard. Left side of stock has the "HSH" Henry Hill cartouche, who inspected the 1863 Model rifles. Cleaning rod is cupped. CONDITION: Near mint; retaining majority of original finish with some minor handling marks on stock. Mirror bore. Excellent overall and maybe one of a kind. Comes with early pre-frog sling with brass hook, two keepers (one newer); end broken off and rather brittle.
