Octagonal barrel made without sights, retained by 2 pins, with a pair of poincons at left flat of breech; one appears to be "NS" wile the other is indistict and may be an animal head. Poincons are partially obscured by stockline. Iron nosecap. Ramrod, probably the original, retained by a single thimble and feeding into an unreinforced mouth, with a missing segment at rear. Plain lock with bevelled edges. Flared butt with ovoid buttcap. Walnut stock with an applied paper of some kind on right side of grip, no markings observed and meaning unknown. A period spanner is included. CONDITION: Very good, metal is an even smooth chocolate patina with flashes of dove grey throughout. Nosecap and ramrod with heavier oxidation. Stock is good with handling marks, somewhat dry. One expertly repaired grain separation along spine of grip that is almost invisible. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with even oxidation. EMW
