Circa 1855. The blued bolted front action lock is well engraved with scrolls and toothed border. The hammer with dolphin engraving, engraved en suite. Steel barrel engraved throughout most of its length with scrolls and muzzle rings. Nickel silver fullstock is extensively engraved and decorated with scrolls in the Scottish manner. Ball trigger. German silver capped pricker in the form of a thistle. Nitre blued belt hook. CONDITION: Lock and hammer retain considerable original blue finish. Steel barrel polished but crisp. Belt hook with vibrant later blue finish. Action is crisp. Bore is fine. Ramrod possibly replaced but fits well. A good Scottish dress pistol by one of the well-known makers of same. MZ
