The block is dated 1878 and the sight is an 1879 type while the Sam Porter cartouche is dated 1884. It is a standard rifle with a 32 - 5/8" barrel, original rod, post front sight, full length walnut stock with two bands, blue finish with brilliant case colors on block, US Springfield and Eagle on lock. CONDITION: This gun appears to have seen little to no use. 98% blue on metal that is just starting to thin, bright colors, sharp stocks with as new cartouche, a sharp bore and perfect action. There are some usual age sports on barrel and a couple areas with light freckling and most of the blue can still be found on the butt-plate. Comes with a modern military style sling. Would be almost impossible to find any nicer.
