Lot consists of: (A) Brass barreled blunderbuss with two stage octagonal to round barrel separated by a wedding band. Octagonal flat engraved over the breech "Fabricado / In Iylar (?) / Ano 1843" with florals and fancy script. Scalloped notch rear sight at tang. Underside of bell with a lug, vacant. Vacant ramrod channel with reinforced ferrule at mouth. Lock with engraved floral at tail. Stock with two panels of point pattern checkering at wrist, with flowing lines of cheekpiece and hump at toe. Iron buttplate. CONDITION: Fair to good. Brass has acquired an attractive mustard patina, engraving is clear. Iron is patinated throughout in a rich chocolate patina. Wood has numerous bumps and bruises throughout, and one live split at left side, running from sideplate to tip of forearm throughout retaining escutcheon. There is a splash of what appears to be green paint at toe. Action works appropriately, although frizzen spring is bent and does not contact pan cover and touch hole is plugged. Bore is good, smooth, with some verdigris throughout. (B) Diminutive bead front sight with raised central rib, disappearing at breech for engraving of florals. Slightly raised dais at tang. Lock with geometric designs and signed "Mousullu". Sideplate pierced through with florals. Thin ramrod retained by a reinforced brass ferrule. Trigger guard and cruciform buttcap also made of brass, buttcap with finial decorated in florals. Thumbpiece relief carved with florals. Stock relief carved with florals and geometrics throughout. CONDITION: Very good. Metal with even freckling and a few deeper areas of patination. Approximately 3/5 of the forearm has been replaced, reinforced, and retained by the aforementioned strap. Wood has some chips missing at the tail of the lock and left side of forearm at muzzle. Brass has acquired a pleasing mustard patina. Action is crisp. Bore is very good, with smooth oxidation throughout. EW
