Lot consists of (A) Deringer manufacture and so marked on the lock. The gun is dated 1843 with "USR" stamped at the rear of the lock. We do not believe this marking to be original as there is no record of Deringer having supplied the Revenue Cutter Service with these guns. Deringer marked on top of the barrel at the breech. Brass mounted. Standard configuration. CONDITION: Barrel has been refinished with pitting underneath. Lock is cleaned bright with pitting. All markings are clear. Wood has dings and handling marks, visible cartouche on the left side. Front sight post is a restoration, as is the nipple. (B) 1845 dated Ames. Standard markings and configuration. Matching dates on lock and barrel. Cartouche on the left side of stock. CONDITION: Very good, as found. Retains a pleasing patina overall with some light surface rust and minor pitting. Traces of brown on the barrel. All markings are clear. Wood has some dings and handling marks, showing wear. Fine mechanical function. GR
