Cal. .45-70 Barrel 32-5/8". Offered is a standard early U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor, single shot rifle. Standard features include: full round blued barrel, 1873 folding rear sight, post front sight, two barrel bands, sling swivels and walnut stock. Both barrel bands are stamped U. Buttplate is stamped US. The block is stamped Model 1873 U.S. with Eagle head and a unit stamped A3. Stock cartouche with ESA in oval. Rack #59 stamped on wrist. The plate is stamped U.S. Springfield 1873. All metal parts are smooth brown patina. Stock is very good but there is a 3" crack on left side. Has a fine action. Strong bore with light black powder abrasion. Comes with ram-rod. Nice early Indian Wars rifle.
