Manufactured for the Imperial German military by DWM. This is the early 1908 Military first issue without a hold open device or stock lug. Features include round barrel with dovetailed inverted V front sight and V notch rear sight on rear link. Thumb safety marked "GESICHERT" in the upper position, extractor marked "GELADN", center toggle link marked "DWM", and correct 1908 military proof marks on the left side of the receiver. This is an all matching numbers gun including the magazine. CONDITION: Gun retains approximately 93% of the original factory applied rust blue finish with some slight high edge wear and holster wear. Factory straw small parts retain 80%. Wood checkered grips with no chips or cracks. The checkering shows minimal wear from handling and use. Fair bore with good lands and grooves; some frosting to the bore. This gun was issued to the 53rd Infantry Regiment Company 1, Weapon 3 and is unit marked "53.R.1.3" on the front grip strap. At some point it has had a hold open device added which would be correct. A very scarce early Imperial German Luger in phenomenal condition.
