Lot consists of 2 classic Word War II production small arms, the M1911A1 and M1 Garand, both sharing the same serial number, 1074028. Both were acquired from the Civilian Marksmanship Program in 2022 and are accompanied by their CMP Certificated of Authenticity and CMP hard sided shipping cases. (A) was manufactured by Union Switch & Signal of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1943. The scarcest of the standard production M1911A1 other than Singer made guns, only 55,000 were produced during WWII. This Service Grade example is finished in full reapplied gray parkerized finish. Standard sights. Barrel is a Post-War government replacement marked "45 AUTO / 7791193" on the hood. Right side of slide bears standard "USS" monogram logo and 2-line address. Grips are checkered brown fiber Keyes. Includes a Post-War USGI magazine. CONDITION: Very good as arsenal reworked. Nearly all of the reapplied parkerized finish is retained with mild high edge wear. Grips have handling marks throughout. Very good, bright bore with some light frosting. Fine mechanics. (B) was manufactured circa November 1942 by Springfield and shipped from the CMP as a Service Grade rifle. Fitted with a "6-52" dated Harrington & Richardson barrel and Post-War sights. Mixed USGI internals including relieved op rod. Standard military walnut stocks and hardware. CONDITION: Very good. Nearly all of the arsenal reapplied parkerized finish is retained with mild losses. Stocks show some expected moderate wear and handling. Crisp, bright bore. ME reads just under 1. TE is slightly under 2. Fine mechanics. A great set of US World War II small arms that would be very difficult to replicate with matching serial numbers.
