This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/11/2023
Originally manufactured circa 1909 as deluxe engraved grade "5" rifle, later known as the "E" Expert grade. The matching 22" jacketed barrel chambered in .25 Remington is marked at the breech with a "CX" date stamp of April 1929, possibly indicating a factory rebarrel. The barrel jacket is rollmarked with an unusual 2-line barrel address including patent dates through 1907. Blade front sight with folding v-notch rear and tang mounted peep sight. The blued receiver is richly engraved with foliate scroll over punch dot backgrounds with rope and line borders. The left side features single panel scene depicting a standing buck in brush. The scroll and line engraving extends onto the magazine and trigger guard, as well as approximately the first 4" of the barrel jacket. Stocked in grade "6" hand checkered figured walnut with a straight grip buttstock mounted with a checkered hard rubber Remington UMC logo butt plate and a silver wrist escutcheon engraved in gilt filled art deco letters "RES". Matching lipped splinter forend. CONDITION: Very good overall. The vast majority of the rich, factory applied blue is retained with some thinning present at expected areas, as well as some light wear and a few minor nicks on the barrel jacket. Stocks show field use with scattered marks and some areas of varnish loss. A small repaired split is present in the forend. Bore is fine, bright with crisp rifling. Fine mechanics. Matching serial numbers observed on the receiver, tang, barrel, and butt stock. Some marring present on the forward tang screw. A scarce deluxe Remington.
