Built circa 1993, a beautiful bespoke pair of 28 gauge game shotguns both with 28" side by side 2 - 3/4" chambered barrels. Nicely blacked barrels are fit with smooth concave tapered ribs and small steel front bead sights. Ribs are gold inlaid with numbers "1" and "2" respectively and read "WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co., ENGLAND." Barrel panels and rib all engraved with elegant floral near breech. The bottom of the left barrel on the number "1" gun is stamped "19749" "2152 F" "PC" and right barrel bottom is stamped "19749" "PC". Brushed coin finished barrel flats are stamped with appropriate Birmingham proofs, "28-70" gauge (28), 2 - 3/4". Left barrel flat stamped with choke "MOD" and right barrel with choke "IMP CYL.". Right barrel flat also stamped "DELUXE". The bottom of the left barrel on the number "2" gun is stamped "19750" "2152 G" "PC" and right barrel bottom is stamped "19750" "PC". Brushed coin finished barrel flats are stamped with appropriate Birmingham proofs, "28-70" gauge (28), 2 - 3/4". Left barrel flat stamped with choke "FULL" and right barrel with choke "MOD". Right barrel flat also stamped "DELUXE". These beautiful case colored guns are built on true sidelock actions with gold lined indicators, blued checkered, engraved auto-safes with "SAFE" in gold, finely engraved and checkered top levers with "1" and "2" in gold. The number one gun has been adorned with a gold inlay of a hunting dog glaring at two gold woodcock in flight in a field of grass with Bulino styled trees and clouds on its left lockplate. Right lockplate engraved with a similar scene of a gold inlay hunting dog on point as a brace of gold inlay quail take off. This magnificent scene is set on an open field with trees and brush in background. The action bottom is engraved with scrolls and a vignette with a gold woodcock flying through a field of brush and trees. Both guns have gold inlays of maker's name "WESTLEY RICHARDS" on bar at bottom beneath lockplate. Action, fences, and lockplates all with matching scroll. The number "2' guns engraving is just as handsome and eloquent with gold inlay of a flushing dog scaring up a brace of wood duck on left lock plate, right lock plate with gold inlay of a pointer watching a pair of pheasants in flight and bottom action with a golden dove in flight over a pasture. The gun's case hardened double triggers are protected by double rolled edged, scroll engraved, blued trigger guards which extend to a long bottom strap with guns serial numbers gold inlaid "2152F" and "2152G". Engraving all eloquently executed by Master Engraver Allan Brown. The English walnut stocks with drop points, hand-rubbed oil finishes are reddish-brown with smoky marbled grain are built with fine checkering, fleur-de-lis borders, gold oval, and checkered butts with scroll engraved steel case color hardened skeleton butt plates to protect. Matched beavertail forends with case color hardened, engraved iron metal also have their appropriate serial numbers engraved into the inner iron metal bars. Forends are also built with Anson-styled push-button releases that are blued and checkered. The guns are kept in an oak and leather makers case with black and gold leather trade label, which reads "WESTLEY RICHARDS" "MAKERS OF FINE GUNS & RIFLES" "ESTABLISHED 1812" "GRANGE ROAD, BOURNBROOK, BIRMINGHAM B29 6AR, ENGLAND." Oak and leather case with canvas outer cover includes "WESTLEY RICHARDS" branded accessories of a two-piece rosewood cleaning rod with off-white bone handle, cleaning attachments, gold plated round oil bottle, three off-white bone-handled turnscrews, four bone and gold plated snap caps, and an off-white bone-handled chamber brush. Case lid with round brass disk on top which is engraved "WESTLEY RICHARDS" "2152F" and "2152G". CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain 99% original blue with only extremely slight forend rub underneath both sets of barrels. Actions are both tight and sound, ejectors work well. Stocks and forend only show very slight signs of use or storage wear. Case near mint. Incredible pair of Deluxe grade game guns. CP.
