Based on the Finnish Valmet RK71 assault rifle, these semi-automatic rifles were chambered in the more popular American 5.56x45mm cartridge for commercial export sales to the US in the 1970s. As some of the first Kalashnikov based rifles imported into the US, many found their way into popular television and films in the 70s and 80s. This example features full matte gray finish throughout. Classic pencil barrel with 3-prong bayonet lug flash hider. Protected post front sight with flip up night sight, and 500 meter graduated square notch rear right. Receiver is of stamped construction and is marked with Interarms importer in addition to Valmet trademark. Furniture includes a checkered polymer forend and pistol grip, as well as a fixed position polymer stock with serrated plastic butt plate. A desirable 40-round MCP magazine and 3 30-round magazines are included. CONDITION: Very good overall. Nearly all of the factory gray finish is retained throughout with high edge silvering, light scratching, and other scattered handling marks. Stock has a 2" crack on the left side running from the receiver, as well as a chip along the edge. Furniture is otherwise very good with some scattered handling marks. Very good, strong bore with some firing residue. Fine mechanics.
