Originally manufactured by Heckler & Koch as an SP-89 in 1990, this rifle was later professionally converted to the MP5K variation by Midwest Tactical Inc and was registered as an Short Barrel Rifle. The top of the receiver is marked "HK SP 89" followed by the serial number and date code "KA" between German nitro and Ulm proofs. Left side of receiver bears markings stipulating the manufacturer (Midwest Tactical) and the caliber, with the right side of the magazine well being stamp with the HK Inc.'s importer information. Bolt head is marked "3D" and "JA112" followed by a German nitro proof and locking piece is marked "16". Magazine is marked "Made in Germany" and "9mmx19" on the left side. Features include a 4" barrel, three position semi-automatic trigger pack, open drum rear sight, push button magazine release, and side folding stock. Trigger housing has been shortened at the rear to accept the MP5 receiver platform. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their enamel finish, showing a few marks and minor losses from handling and use. Mirror bore, with well defined lands and grooves throughout. Polymer furniture exhibits few minor marks from wear. -MLW-
