Colt 1921/28 Navy Thompson with Cutts compensator and “U.S. Navy” marking above model marking on left side of receiver as well as “8” overstamp. “JHB” inspection mark very clear on right side of receiver. Original diamond / bullet logo Cutts compensator. Gun retains 1928 internal parts. Original buttstock with visible anchor cartouche at leading edge. Accessories include one original 3rd model 50 round “L” drum marked, “NEW YORK N.Y. U.S.A.” over 1920s patent dates. The barrel index mark on the right side matches perfectly with no other markings on the barrel. The Colt Navy overstamp Thompson combines the high quality manufacturing, fit, and finish of the Colt guns with a U.S. military connection, making them among the most sought after of all Thompson machine gun variations. The most iconic of all American machine guns are the ones with the Cutts compensator and vertical foregrip such are this one has. Electronic NFA Registry indicates “AUTO ORDNANCE” in the manufacturer’s block. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original finish on all metal parts with some very small spots of gray patina such as to the right of the actuator slot, and on the right side of the lower assembly hardware below the “NEW YORK” address. The gun has some thinning of the finish at the high edges and just a little bit of finish loss at the actuator slot. Wood of fore-end and pistol grip is extremely fine to near excellent with a couple tiny chips and a slight bruise on the right side of the foregrip with some very slight handling marks on the buttstock. Bore is extremely fine to near excellent, shiny and bright, with just a little bit of residue/darkness at the lands. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. This is an exceedingly handsome gun sure to please any Thompson aficionado. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2025-12-207.
