Colt 1921/28 Navy Thompson with Cutts compensator and “U.S. Navy” marking above model marking on left side of receiver as well as “8” overstamp. “JHB” inspection mark discernible on right side of receiver. Original diamond / bullet logo Cutts compensator. Gun retains 1928 internal parts. Original buttstock with visible anchor cartouche at leading edge and professionally refinished hardware. Accessories include one 50-round Bridgeport “L” drum. The barrel index mark on the right side matches perfectly with no other markings on the barrel. The Colt Navy overstamp Thompson combines the high quality manufacturing, fit, and finish of the Colt guns with a U.S. military connection, making them among the most sought after of all Thompson machine gun variations. The most iconic of all American machine guns are the ones with the Cutts compensator and vertical foregrip such are this one has. Electronic NFA Registry indicates, “COLT” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original finish on all metal parts exclusive of the buttstock hardware which has been refinished. The gun has some thinning of the finish at the high edges and at the contact points of the actuator slot, and gray patina at the contact points where the stock meets the lower. Wood of fore-end and pistol grip is near excellent, with some very slight handling marks. Buttstock wood is near excellent original finish with a very small bruise with original albeit refinished hardware. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. This is an exceedingly handsome gun sure to please any Thompson aficionado.
