Superb and extremely desirable British Bren machine as manufactured by Royal Small Arms factory for World War II. Marked on left side of receiver "MK I" over manufacturer’s mark and date “1941”. Nitro proofs and broad arrow proofs on receiver near barrel retaining latch. Finding a Bren gun in this kind of arsenal refurbished condition is extraordinary. This specimen retains its “humped” buttstock, albeit with filled in butt disk, and has a MK II magazine release catch with a lightening hole. Mk I rear sight. Serial number on receiver and barrel latch matches, and original serial number on barrel 7236 has been struck through and matching serial number L363 added below it. Birmingham Small Arms stacked rifles cartouche and broad arrow proof discernible on buttstock. The Bren gun was the culmination of the development of the Czech ZV2630 series as refined in Britain and is generally accepted to be one of the best light to medium machine guns of World War II. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish near excellent, smooth, grey arsenal refinish with extremely fine to near excellent wood with some slight handing marks. Bipod not refinished. Bore is near excellent, shiny, and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine to near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. This is a fantastic opportunity for the discerning machine gun dealer to get a fantastic gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS ONLY ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSFER TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS AS A PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE. JWK 2021-11-024.
